- an Adoption Questionnaire and Contract must be filled out and submitted
- an adopter must be over 18 years of age
- a home check must be conducted (adoption fee is due at time of home check)
- a kennel, leash, collar and ID tag must be purchased before your adoptee arrives

Adoption Process
Thank you for your interest in adopting an Earthdog. As part of our adoption process we ask that you first complete and submit our adoption questionnaire prior to meeting our dogs so we can try to ensure that the dog you are interested in is indeed a potential match for your family. Some of our dogs may have certain needs and/or requirements for their new homes; like being on a specific type of diet for life, they may need a certain type of fencing or have behavioural issues requiring a special home so if the particular dog you are interested in is not a match we will try to suggest other dogs that would be more suited match for your family.
Once is has been determined your family is a match Earthdog will then give you the foster families contact information so you can make arrangements with them to go and meet the foster dog in person. Please try to ensure all family members are present for the meeting including all adults, children and other dogs who will be living in the home. Once you have met the foster dog and feel this is the right dog for your family please contact Earthdog and let us know so we can continue
the adoption process.
The final step is the homecheck, a time and date will be set up with an Earthdog representative to come to your home to conduct the homecheck. At this time paperwork will be finalized, any final questions can be answered and the adoption fee will be collected. Cheques should be made payable to Earthdog Terrier Rescue of Manitoba.
We ask that you have the following items ready by the time of your home check.
- Leash and collar
- ID tag with your name, address and phone number
- Food
- Adoption Fee will be collected

Once the home check is complete arrangements will be made to pick up your new family member!
We offer a 21 day home adoption trial during which time, if things don’t work out, you will get your full adoption fee back. If at anytime you are no longer able to keep or care for the dog Earthdog will take them back into our rescue regardless of how much time has passed.
